Student who has completed Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM), A-Level, Matriculation, Foundation, Diploma, UEC, International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB), HND(UK) Diploma, SAME/WACE/AUSMAT or other equivalent qualifications recognised by Government of Malaysia. Keen interest in Computing field of study especially in the area of Software Engineering. May complete education at Bachelor level to become professional or entrepreneurs, or may pursue in related Postgraduate programmes.

This syllabus has been designed to meet the requirements of professional bodies and industries while giving students the competitive edge. Emphasis is on the application of knowledge through teamwork, case studies, simulations and real life projects.

 

The Bachelor in Software Engineering (Honours) is offered by the Department of Computing CCI. The programme focuses on the practical and theoretical dimensions of computer science, and prepares students to become software engineers who can plan, design, construct and maintain the software in various environment including stand-alone, web-based system, mobile application, cloud environment, and other platforms. This programme is designed to produce graduates who are in-demand by the industry due to their ability to produce quality software through the use of excellent principles and technique's of analysis, design, development and testing. This makes UNITEN software engineering graduates are highly paid and sought after on the labour market.

This programme has strong professional bodies support to align with the needs of the fourth industrial revolution (IR 4.0). The collaboration between universities and the industry is increasingly perceived as a way to enhance innovation through knowledge exchange therefore, this programme also provides opportunity for students to work with our industry partners for their final year projects.

Additional Certifications

The Bachelor in Software Engineering (Honours) programme is value-added with the latest industry requirements where by syllabus of Certified Professional for Requirements Engineering (CPRE) by International Requirements Engineering Board (IREB) and Certified Tester Foundation Level (CTFL) by International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB) are embedded within two courses; Requirements Engineering and Software Testing.

In addition to this, the programme is also designed to enable graduates to pursue higher qualifications in software engineering such as professional certifications as well as Master of Software Engineering or Master of Information Technology and Doctor of Philosophy from UNITEN as well as from other reputable institutions of higher learning.

120 credit hours of subjects are being taught in nine semesters. This Bachelor in Software Engineering (Honours) programme can be completed in 3 years.

+ ENGLISH REQUIREMENTS

For Malaysian Students:

Malaysian students may enrol without MUET. However, students are required to complete MUET during duration of study (before graduation). IELTS (5.0 and above) or TOEFL (500 and above) or TOEFL Internet Based Test (42 and above) is also accepted.

    Achieve Band 1 and above


For International Students:

International students are required to have one of the English proficiency score stated below to enrol in UNITEN. Bachelor students who do not fulfill this English requirement are required to sit for the Intensive English Programme (IEP) and pass the requirement below before starting their Bachelor programme.

    Achieve Band 3.5 and above

  • IELTS – International English Language Testing System
    Achieve 5.0 and above

  • TOEFL - Test of English as a Foreign Language
